Hello Readers, my name is Becky and I am the blogger behind The Bookette.

I am a UK School Librarian at a Prep School in Essex. We have over 500 students on role from ages 3 - 13. My job is to teach them a love of reading. I am a very lucky girl indeed.

When I'm not living my working dreams, you can find me reading (that's hardly a surprise now, is it?), swimming (exercise is a necessary evil), knitting (it's a long story), sewing (Great British Sewing Bee addict) watching TV cop shows (The Mentalist is my absolute favourite) and obsessing over superhero movies (my dream is waking up to discover I have a special power).

This Blog...
Since August 2009, I have been reviewing on this blog: picture books, children's and YA fiction, novels I've read for the staff book group and anything else I happen to be reading. You can see all the books that I've reviewed by following this LINK
Please note: I am not accepting review requests. However, I am using Netgalley.

Other posts you might find on The Bookette:

  • Author interviews
  • Giveaways (You can find my giveaway policy HERE)
  • Insights into the life of a School Librarian including using technology in the library
  • A termly list of the most popular books in the school library
  • Extracts of new release titles from a range of publishers

This blog began as a way of sharing a love of reading and an extension of my job. It continues to grow. As of June 2012, I have had 69510 visitors from 151 countries. I have campaigned to get Song Quest by Katherine Roberts back in print and as of January 2012, this aim was realised. Thank you to the lovely people at Catnip Publishing. You can find out more about that here

As this blog evolves one thing won't change: I love connecting with people around the world and talking about great books. So stop by and say hi!
