Character Connection: Ronald Weasley

So wow. It is already Thursday. The Easter holidays are going far too quickly. Today I attempted DIY. This is not an April Fool's trick. This is true. I put up a blind in my study. It was not as easy as it sounds. It took two hours and there are now four holes drilled into my window frame that need to be filled. Whoops. But hey, I have a blind and can now see my laptop screen in the afternoons. Girl Power!!!

So if you missed last week, I am participating in Jen @ The Introverted Reader's new meme: Character Connection. Here is what she has to say:
"We all have characters we love. Let's spotlight these fantastic creations! Whether you want to be friends with them or you have a full-blown crush on them, you know you love them and want everyone else to love them too!

Most of you will probably post about how much you love each character, but this is a great place for the more creative ones among you to let go and have fun! Write a love letter to
Captain Wentworth. Write yourself into a scene with Anne and Diana. Draw a picture of yourself in Jamie's arms. The possibilities are endless."

Find out more information over at her post.

Be warned this meme is actually really difficult and requires a certain amount of inspiration what I happen to not be feeling today.

Despite the fact that I did manual labour this morning. I don't class myself as a feminist. I class myself as a Beckyist which is to say that I have a philosophy all of my own when it comes to life. I have no problem with being whisked off my feet and living princess-style happily ever after. So I thought I'd share with you today my ten reasons why Ronald Weasley would make the perfect knight in shining armour.
  1. He started out with a hand-me-down wand and it snapped it half. Any worthy knight would not give up when his sword betrayed him.
  2. He is an outstanding chess-player. Strategy is needed to win any jousting tournament.
  3. He has all the grace of a hippo thus he will be able to rival any ogre.
  4. He says things like "baboon's backside" which has an undeniable charismatic charm.
  5. He experiences envy and jealousy and such emotions are the making of any passionate challenger for a lady's heart.
  6. He is loyal and not especially gifted in anything other than being himself which means he can be counted on to risk his life for his king or *cough* best friend.
  7. He defends his lady's honour against prejudice and bigotry.
  8. He screams like a girl when he sees spiders which reveals his truly sensitive nature.
  9. He respects that his lady is in charge of pretty much all things.
  10. In the ultimate battle of good against evil Ronald Weasley is what is termed by those in the know as pure of heart. What better quality can a lady look for in her knight?
I am the ultimate Ron fan girl. Swoons. He's adorable.

I just love the new Harry Potter covers from Bloomsbury. They're a sort of hommage to traditional fantasies, don't you think? Not everyone's cup of tea though.

I have a Becky-friend on GoodReads who would probably battle you for the title of ultimate Ron fan girl. She also loves Snape. Do you?

I loved your post! I'm ready to knight Sir Ron!

Don't feel pressure to be creative. I'm a plain vanilla kind of girl. I just want people to feel free to do whatever they want, even if it's just "Ron Weasley Rocks!" :)

Yes, Ron is quite charming in his own unique way. I love you "top ten" style list.

I think this was wonderful. I'm listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on audio again and I got quite a chuckle out of your top ten reasons Ron is a great knight. I've always loved Ron and think your post was quite creative. Thanks for sharing!

I love your list. Definitely gave me a morning chuckle. I have to admit, though, that if those covers where the only ones available for Harry Potter I would never pick up the books. Sad, but true. I'm one of the crazy people who like to see people on the covers...less fantasty more reality. however, i will admit that the covers DO convey the story inside each book pretty well. :-)

Jennifer - *gasp* How can your friend like Ron and Snape? Snape is a marmite character, I guess. I hate him. Sort of. Most of the time. I'm a Ron girl to the core LOL

Whitney - thanks. Sometimes it is easier to break it down into a list of reasons.

Clevery Inked - What a brave person you are to confess this! I haven't read Catching Fire and that usually gets a eye-popping reaction too.

Kay - Thanks! I am trying to extend the creativity element of myself but I'm finding it really hard. I'm going to keep trying.

Hannah - I agree the covers to convey content really well. I am your opposite. I do not like people on covers. I prefer objects, colours, abstract, places etc. Each to their own.

Hehehehe. Wow. DIY. Wow. Ron. I guess we all have characters in books and stuff we love. (cough cough HP and Percy Jackson and Gambit.) Fab post. I thinks this is a pretty good for someone who is lacking inspiratation at this certain time.

I just love the entire Weasley family, they are *so* the family I would love to have!!
And Ron just make the most dramatic scenes funny by just being himself...
Don't you just love how eating is so essential to him ? lol

Awww, loving these 10 reasons, they're too cute and they made me laugh! Agreed, Ron Weasley is just the bestest - I wouldn't call myself his number one fan girl, but I certainly have a soft spot for this adorable dude!
Not sure about the new HP covers though - I definitely prefer the old ones ...

I liked your post on Gone With the Wind. "There's something about mean people" - - Yes, they're very sincere - - unlike Scarlett. More about Rhett: www.deathofrhett.blogspot.com

I'm a big Ron Weasley fangirl, too :) It still makes me giggle when I imagine him driving the flying Ford Anglia. Lol.

The new Bloomsbury covers for the HP series don't really appeal to me, though - too much white. I liked the previous ones better.
