Waiting on Wednesday: Almost True

This meme is hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine.

Yesterday I posted my review of When I Was Joe by the fabulous UK debut author Keren David. I was so delighted today because Keren posted the cover and a blurb for the next instalment of Joe/ Ty's story.

The book is titled Almost True and it is due for release in August.

Here is the blurb from Keren's blog:

This isn’t the first time that someone’s tried to silence me forever. It’s just the first time that someone else has died instead.

Ruthless killers are hunting Ty. The police move him and his mum to a quiet seaside town. But a horrific attack and a bullet meant for Ty prove he’s not safe yet.
On the road again, Ty’s in hiding with complete strangers . . . who seem to know a lot about him. Meanwhile he’s desperate to see his girlfriend, and terrified that she may betray him. Ty can’t trust his own judgement and he’s making dangerous decisions that could deliver him straight to the gangsters.
In Almost True you learn a lot more about Ty’s background and about the crime that he witnessed. It examines questions about truth, loyalty, friendship and memory. Yes, some of Ty’s friends from the time when he was Joe reappear. And there are lots of new characters as well.
Me again:
When I Was Joe was such an incredible book. It really transformed the way I think about knife crime and I can I just say if you only read one book that I recommend in 2010, make it this one. So naturally now I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of Almost True. I love the cover too.

Carla, I wish I could convince you to read When I Was Joe. Would it help if I said I had invited Keren in to my school library to talk about the book to my Year 7s and 8s? I would only do this if I thought the book dealt with the issue of knife crime in the right way.

You have me mega needing to read this series!
Is it weird that I find the guy on the cover to be incredibly attractive?
I'm sure he's like, at least 10 years younger than I am.

Well I think the model must be a least three years older than Ty. So I think you can get away with it Brimuz. I'm so glad you want to read it. Every one should read it.

Haven't heard of this series, but looks interesting. My pick is at The Crowded Leaf.

Am I imagining or does the cover model look like Jonathan Rhys Meyers ? ;)

I think I would give this series a chance .

Thanks Becky for telling people about Almost True (and thanks for your wonderful review which brought tears to my eyes. You are my dream reader.) Just wanted to say I'm going to be having a competition on my blog announced tomorrow - to find the best lookalike for the lovely boy on the cover. Could be a celebrity or someone you know. The winner will get a copy (signed if you like) of When I Was Joe.

Yay! Frances Licoln, Keren's publishers have promised me a copy of Almost True. It isn't quite ready yet. Keren is still editing it but it is so exciting for me. I cannot wait and did you see that she said I'm her dream reader? The feeling is entirely mutual. Her writing is a dream!
