Review Policy

At The Bookette I aim to review a variety of Young Adult and Pre-Teen fiction titles as well as picture books.

2011: I am currently not accepting any further titles for review as I have a backlog of requests.

There are many great UK book blogs who may be able to help you. Please use the page listed on my navigation bar to help you find someone who can help.

When I open again for requests please note the following:

My comfort zone: YA and Pre-Teen fiction titles - specifically Fantasy, Paranormal, Historical, Dystopia, Sci-Fi, UK Debut Novels (more information about this here).

My favourite authors: Simone Elkeles, Marcus Sedgwick, Theresa Breslin, Michelle Paver, Joseph Delaney, Keren David, Katherine Roberts, Jaclyn Moriarty

My worst nightmare: Horror, Religious Fiction, Biographies, Autobiographies, Non-Fiction,

Acceptable format: ARC, paperback, hardback, audio book

Unacceptable format: e-books, PDFs, Graphic Novels, Manga, Comic Books, self-published

Blog tours: I am no longer participating in blog tours due to a high level of review requests.

What can you expect from my review?
Each review I write is a personal account of my reading experience with an individual book. As I general rule, I will begin by summarising the premise of the novel. I will then go on to discuss some or all of the following: characterisation, plot, pace, dialogue, narrative voice, quality of writing. I will finish the review by assessing my overall enjoyment of the book. I will highlight appropriate target audiences to which the book may appeal.

Please note that each review I write is honest and to the point. I will highlight any parts of the book which detracted from my enjoyment of it.

I am no longer using a rating system for my reviews. I write fair and balanced reviews and I try to indicate who the book will appeal to even if it wasn't entirely my "type" of read.
I will also post my reviews on Amazon (if requested) and Goodreads and post a link to the review on my Twitter account.

Please note: I am not able to review every book that I am sent because I receive such a high volume. If you want to ensure that I am able to review your book, please email me a request before you send it.

Please do not hestitate to email me if you wish to discuss any of the above points.
